The New 52

Bonjour! I've been ignoring this blog for far too long. The reason was mainly the fact that I haven't been able to pick up any new comics for the last several months, but that's no longer the case. I've moved to DC and have been picking up comics at the shop in Union Station. This blog might be reformatted a little bit in the sense that I'll be covering the new Batgirl series and the new Teen Titans series, but no matter what, this will continue to be a Wonder Woman blog first and foremost. Check back in the next day or two to read my review of the first issue of the new series.

Au revoir!

Too Long!

Apologies for not updating this in quite some time. I won't bog down this with an endless explanation. I'll simply say life happened. With that said, quite a bit has happened to Wondy and co. since the last update. At first it seemed as if the show was an automatic flop, then reports were coming in that it had a good chance of being picked up, and finally it bit the dust. I must say, I'm a bit disappointed. While I was not too happy with what I had read about it pre-pilot screening, I was willing to give the show a chance. Alas, it seems Wondy still has a long way to go before she'll hit the small screen, let alone the silver one.

I've been hearing some rumors about the future of DC Comics. Apparently DC has decided to reboot its universe. I'm out of the comic loop, so I don't feel comfortable posting anything until I do my own research into what's going on, but I can see this as both a good and a bad thing. In terms of Wonder Woman, I think this gives her yet another opportunity to be treated with consistency. I'll post more when I know what's going on.

Hope all is well!

Make Your Jack-O-Lantern WONDERful!

I know this is a little late considering the fact that Halloween is literally less than twenty-four hours away, but I found this neat Wonder Woman pumpkin stencil on PinkRayGun! I've been uber behind on all things Halloween this year (those that know me personally know that it's my favorite holiday to go all out on!), so I can't wait to carve this tomorrow! I hope everyone has a happy and safe Halloween!

JT Krul on Cassie and the Teen Titans

Comic Book Resource just posted an interview with JT Krul, the new ongoing writer for Teen Titans. In it, he confirms that he plans on being on the book for the long hull, Cassie is the leader of the Teen Titans (Garth will no longer be challenging her for the position), and Solstice will have a significant role in the Wonder Girl One-Shot coming out in January 2011. Krul's highly anticipated Teen Titans run premiered today; could he be to the Teen Titans today what Geoff Johns was to the Teen Titans when the current book first premiered? Check back soon for our review and find out!

Cassie Gets a One-Shot

Current Wonder Girl, Cassie Sandsmark, will be getting her own one-shot this January. Written by JT Krul with cover art by Nicola Scott & Doug Hazlewood and interior art by Adriana Melo & Mariah Benes, it sounds like the issue will feature her life outside of the Titans and have her encounter a new hero named Solstice. The following is the official solicit for it:

Oogle Over DCU Online's Character Creator

October started off on shaky ground for those of us who have been waiting for DCU Online. Less than a month before its scheduled release, SEO announced that the game would be pushed back to spring 2011. The reason given was to improve the game; apparently they felt it wasn't quite as good as it could be. To ease the bad news it was also announced that a PS3 Collector's Edition will be released and that beta will be starting soon. The treats keep coming! Earlier today a new video was released that gives a preview of the character generator. A big thanks to Comic Vine for the full video:

So far, so good! We already knew the CGI was great, and now it looks like custom characters during in-game action will look pretty darn good too. Who knew Lex Luthor would use Brainiac's technology to give us super powers? Seems like we'll have plenty of choices to make come spring 2011.

Wonder Woman News from NYCC

It was revealed at the New York Comic Con yesterday that Wonder Woman will soon be returning to the DC Universe. Newsarma's live coverage of the Con was infromation packed and included the following:
"Wonder Woman has a whole new pantheon of Gods to deal with. There's clues in every issue to figure out what's going on ... Straczynski says there will be a crossover between Wonder Woman and Superman coming up soon."
According to Newsarama's coverage of the Young Justice panel, Wonder Woman is a member of the Justice League (the show takes place on earth 16 for those of you who are keeping count). While neither Donna nor Cassie have been announced to appear, Newsrama reported the following cryptic reply from Greg Weisman when asked about an appearance from Wonder Girl:
"We're not going to come up here and spoil a ton about a show that'll premiere in a month and a half. My short answer is we have over 150 existing DC Universe characters in the first 18 episodes alone."
Not too much Wonder Woman related news, but it's good to know that Diana will be returning to the DCU soon!

DCU Online Delayed Again, Beta to Start Soon

I know this is old news (especially in the information age), but a few days ago it was announced that DCU Online's release is now delayed until Spring 2011. For those like myself who have followed the development of the game since it was announced, the delay isn't really much of a surprise. The good news is anyone who has preordered the game (or who will preorder it by November 15) will be given an access code for the beta by November 30. Anyone who preorders after November 15 will not get their access code until one week before the game is officially released. Amazon.com has the new release date listed as March 31, 2011. What does the delay mean to you? Do you still plan to purchase the game or have you lost interest? If the latter, has another superhero game taken up your time?
